YOLO – You Only Live Once!
Every now and then, a bit of slang comes along that draws a bright red line between young and old. In 2012, that slang term is YOLO.
If you are over 25, YOLO likely means nothing to you. If you are under 25, you may be so familiar with YOLO that you’re already completely sick of it.
A tip to the oldsters: YOLO is an acronym for “You Only Live Once.” It shot to fame earlier this year thanks to the rapper Drake, whose song “The Motto” has the hook, “You only live once, that’s the motto…YOLO, and we ’bout it every day, every day, every day.”
In 2013 I really think that the meaning of YOLO has taken it a little further. Teenagers seem to take it as a pass to do what ever it is that they want to do in life. There is no sense of respect from them, for themselves or their elders. They feel that they are owed everything and that they can do NO wrong. They also think that they should not have to pay any sort of price for their actions. Or, as my son tells me he is going to “do him”. But at what consequence……
There is a news story that caught my eye “Sex ‘Superbug’ Worse Than AIDS Can Kill In Days”,
According to this breaking story from Democratic Underground, an antibiotic resistant ‘Gonorrhea superbug’ worse than AIDS has health officials extremely worried. According to the story, it can put a person into septic shock and kill its’ victims within days.
An antibiotic-resistant strain of gonorrhea—now considered a superbug—has some analysts saying that the bacteria’s effects could match those of AIDS.
“This might be a lot worse than AIDS in the short run because the bacteria is more aggressive and will affect more people quickly,” said Alan Christianson, a doctor of naturopathic medicine.
“Getting gonorrhea from this strain might put someone into septic shock and death in a matter of days,” Christianson said. “This is very dangerous.”
YOLO should not be a pass to allow our children to participant in behaviors that are reckless, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. We as parents and children of The Most High have to teach our children that there is a new acronym, YOLO-FTMF, You Only Live Once – For The Most High; and that they should be doing all that they can to get right in these last days. You can be set apart living according to the laws, statues and commandments of the book.
So break out your sword, and teach.
Continuing on the path of being an all natural mom
